Key Responsibilities While previous farm experience is not required, you must have a passion for food justice, farm education, organic food systems, and an overall commitment to Spring Islands mission goals and sustainability values.

, push mowers, riding mowers, blowers, and weed whackers preferred Work comfortably in various climactic conditions, including sporadic events such as spontaneous wind, hard rain, and sweltering heat.
Use of backpack sprayers and hand sprayers on crops, as required.
Daily maintenance of vegetables includes seeding, transplanting, mulching, weeding, irrigating, harvesting, storing, cleaning, organizing, staking, removing crops, etc.
Provide an educational and service-oriented experience to all visitors to the farm Contribute innovative ideas and suggestions, and implement them on the farm as needed Operation of small garden tools such as seeders, tillers, tine hoes, harvesting knives Clean and valid drivers license required, as well as the ability to lift 50
pounds.
Attend farm meetings and educational training as necessary.
Skills and Qualifications One year of experience in organic commercial vegetable growing preferred Row crop cultivation, heavy machinery operating skills, and organic systems knowledge are preferred but not required.
Tractor and/or other heavy farm equipment operating experience.
Possession of a Commercial Pesticide License preferred, or a willingness to study and test for a license.
Extraordinary attention to detail, quality, and service Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and shifts greater than eight (8) hours in length.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than four (4) hours, and lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling.
Must be able to pass a drug screen #SIPOA.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
